Tom Tunstall – new Bike, new Season, new Boundaries…
The British Superbikes are back on track this Easter weekend as they prepare to start the opening round at Brands Hatch.
With a 30 strong line up of riders fired up and raring to go, Tom Tunstall of the Hardinge Doodson Motorsport team has his eyes firmly set on the Superbike Cup.
The Huddersfield based team have already made an impressive entrance into the BSB paddock having achieved 3rd and 4th place in the Superbike Cup Championship since their debut into the series in 2007.
The start of the 2009 season sees the arrival of the latest spec Honda CBR 1000RR to the team, and having been sourced from the World Superbike paddock, the more powerful and more developed Honda is already streets ahead of last year’s race bike.
“The new bike has gone really well in testing, We left each circuit having lapped faster than I ever have done before and I still don’t feel I’ve got to the absolute limits of the bike, which certainly bodes well for the season ahead.”
Looking stronger and more competitive than ever before the Superbike Cup, sponsored by The Daily Mirror in 2009, has played a pivotal role in many riders progression. Allowing teams with a limited budget to compete against each other alongside the multi-million pound factory teams, and benefitting from the live coverage on Eurosport plus recently signed deals to show further air time on ITV1, ITV4, and Men & Motors.
Tom Tunstall is more determined than ever to take the title.
“We know the class is stronger than ever this year, but we’ve stepped up the level of machinery, I’ve got another years experience under my belt, and I’m determined to make the most of the opportunity”.
Continuing their 6 year partnership with Hardinge Machine Tools (a global engineering CNC Machine Tool Manufacturer) and with increased support from Doodson Motorsport (specialist insurance brokers in the motorsport sector), the team are confident of their chances for a successful season ahead.
There is no doubt that the 2009 season is going to be tough but Tom Tunstall and the Hardinge Doodson Motorsport Team is fully prepared and ready to race!
You can get up to speed with the teams progress through the race weekend and throughout the year as ever on the team journal, but now also on twitter.
